Our Beliefs

At Pleasant Valley Church of Christ, we are a caring group of believers who come together to seek a deeper relationship with God and live the teachings of Jesus Christ. Our beliefs are directly tied to God’s Word. Here are some of our core beliefs:

  1. Authority of Scripture: The Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired and authoritative Word of God. It is the ultimate guide for our faith, practice, and daily life.

  2. Importance of Jesus Christ: Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. He is the Son of God, the Messiah, and the revelation of God. Our faith is centered on His teachings, life, death, and resurrection.

  3. Salvation by Grace through Faith: Salvation is a gift from God. It is received through faith in Jesus Christ, repentance from sin, confession of faith, and baptism by immersion for forgiveness of sins.

  4. Congregations Follow Christ and the New Testament. The congregation has local elders for spiritual matters and support from deacons with guidance from the New Testament.

  5. Worship in Spirit & Truth: Worship should be simple and reverent, following the New Testament pattern of a cappella singing, prayer, the Lord's Supper, and the teaching of God's Word.

  6. Servant Leadership: Church leaders should serve as examples and serve the congregation. Elders are appointed to shepherd and guide the flock, and deacons work in ministry roles.

  7. Loving and Compassionate Outreach: Showing Christ's love to the world through acts of compassion and outreach. We aim to be a source of hope, healing, and support.

  8. Family and Community: Strong families and a sense of community are essential to the Christian life. We support and nurture families and encourage meaningful relationships.
